We were asked by the design studio at the V&A to create the graphics for Winnie the Pooh: Exploring a Classic and highlight the creative collaboration of the real-life friendship shared by A.A. Milne and E.H. Shepard. Working with theatre designer Tom Piper and RFK Architects the exhibition unfolded like a pop-up book, with secret slides and unexpected, child-sized doors appearing alongside the display cases.
Concrete poetry hung from mobiles. Each room was a stunning interpretation of Shepard's illustrations, complete with storytelling trees and a picnic drawing table. Working with the London Centre of Book Arts to make the captions from traditional book binding board and cloth gave the labels texture and presence amongst the larger than life pencil lined story telling trees.
The exhibition continued to Museum of Fine Arts Boston, then onto Japan to the Bunkamura Museum of Art, Tokyo.
